Emergency room situations at hospitals around the United States do not operate under the same ideal system as it used to do before according to a doctor. Physicians must take turns in doing ER duties according to a ruling under the hospital operations that has been done for several years.

Under state law, an emergency room must be part of the hospital and fulfill their duties in giving emergency care as needed. Years ago, this system was not a very big predicament due to the fact that not many emergency calls and work demands. But lately, this field is getting bigger as the situation changes face.

This is among the many variables that shaped the present system of this very hospital. While they evaluated the issues, they discovered from the doctor of the emergency care team that his colleagues feel beleaguered and made to work beyond their duties. He added that a lot of them would rather quit than serve emergency room duties while the rest do not do anything at all.

They said the taxpayers of the district paid for the original hospital through a bond issue and are now paying another one for the latest addition and equipment. And since these physicians all get this huge privilege without paying a cent, they believe that they should be happy to give back and work on their ER schedules. An ER committee member reveals that the hospital team does not comply with that idea at all.

One of the major concerns is the rampant practice of yanking another into the civil court when the issue could have easily been settled years back easily. Having known this issue, they also look on the other end which is malpractice insurance, however they still become careful in dealing with people who are not truly their own patients or when it comes to situations beyond their medical reach.

The principle of beauty, wherein it lies in the one who beholds it, also applies in assessing emergency situations. As far as the physicians are involved, anything that is a life and death matter is an emergency. Though their situation was not as critical as a matter of life and death, injured patients and board members had a different viewpoint.

Every time these people would believe themselves stuck in an emergency and had to wait, they would let their stories fly around the town while waiting for medical care to be administered. In this very area, this dilemma is not unique. One former veteran of service on a fire department medical aid unit in a medium sized city in the region said he had seen cases of critically injured waiting for sometime before getting medical help.

On the other end, most doctors complain at being abused and asked to come out even late at night and answer cases which are not even emergency matters. This situtation occurring once or more is something that one doctor states he could count on each time he is on call in the ER. This doctor notes that the people can only get the emergency attention they need if the hospital would spend big and hire around three doctors to attend to these cases. Then he added the emergency room might develop into an afterhours clinic as emergency rooms have in some of the major cities.
